ABORTION. "The Bloody Act"

Abortion is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus resulting to it's death. This can occur spontaneously or be artifically induced through chemical, surgical or other means.

Commonly, Abortion refers to a procedure induced at any point of pregnancy. Medically, it is defined as an instigated termination of pregnancy before twenty weeks of gestation, whenever the fetus is considered to be nonviable.

However, in our Society, the term "Abortion" has been branded as an "escape route"and sadly people in our society have consented to this act with the intention of easing off the tension of the victim which will later result to negative effects that ranges from psychological, physical, emotional and otherwise.

However, this is a wrong notion because the complications that results out of an abortion is very dangerous.

It's important we take a dual approach on this subject matter in order not to be misinterpreted. It's primarily observed in our society that abortion is a common illegal act that is done with the excuse of avoiding social discontent of having an "unwanted pregnancy" for which you’ll most likely be stigmatized. However, let’s get an understanding of the term "unwanted" based on its dictionary meaning; it connotes something or someone who is undesirable, not welcomed or unacceptable.

This simply means an "unwanted pregnancy" is a conception of a child who is undesirable or unacceptable by the mother (victim) and the society at large.

This ideology has mentally disrupted the mother because of the threats posed on her which results to various other complications at that time or afterwards. But we must note that every child is a gift and must be treated as such, no matter the circumstances that surround the conception of the child.

Let's dive into some reasons abortions have been adopted, so as to point out relative views about the "Act of Abortion". Some common identified reasons include;
1) Postponement of Child Bearing: It has been confirmed that some women who aren't ready to conceive have resorted to the choice of Abortion. This happen in cases where there’s no proper planning or the pregnancy wasn't expected at that time. It's really unfortunate that some of these individuals are involve in sexual act with the notion of using contraceptives to prevent pregnancy. But unfortunately, this is not a reliable approach and in a situation where it fails, the conception is inevitable of which makes the victim take up abortion as the "only option" to terminate the pregnancy because she isn't ready for the pregnancy.

2) Fear of Disrupting Education: Education in our society is seen as an utmost priority especially in this contemporary period and this has shaped the mindset of most people in our society towards Certification. Based on this view, the society disapproves whatever will disrupt the essence of education, including unwanted pregnancy. This is why the victim out of fear of being dehumanized by the society and risk of losing her education, chooses to comply and opts for an abortion.

3) Lack of Support: This is also a socio-economic factor that results to abortion because there’s no viable support from people especially family members who are in contention with each other on the account of the poor image they think the victim will bring to the family by conceiving without due process of marriage. Also in some cases , they opt for an abortion because they cannot afford to properly care for the child. This can trigger a  psychological breakdown which recourse to accepting the "Act of Abortion" as the only option especially in societies were young unmarried victims are commonly ostracized for getting pregnant illegally.

These reasons are just the few amongst many others. Nevertheless, they are not commendable or justifiable because of it's deadly complications. It is said that contraceptives reduce the risk of an unintended pregnancy but it cannot be completely trusted or reliable because of the limited ability for the victims to determine and control all circumstances of their lives. Even if a woman(victim) identify one overriding reason, pertinent information would still be lost, because the whole range of reasons guiding the decision would not be measured.

Committing an abortion usually has longterm consequences resulting to psychological , emotional and physical negative occurences. In most cases , the aftermath truama of abortion is very dangerous.

Complications after Abortion as relating to the health aspect of the victim, points out that some abortion cases don't end successfully because of the inexperienced medical personnels or cases whereby the remains of the foetus may not be completely evaquated from the uterus, requiring further medical procedures and also incomplete abortion may result to infection and bleeding even to death.

Many women experience bleeding after an abortion. During this period the victim may experience days with light to heavy spotting. It's also normal to pass blood clots though passing large clots (the size of a golf ball) for more than two hours is not normal.

The results reveal that at least one-third of the respondents have experienced psychological side effects. Depression , worrying about not being able to conceive again and abnormal eating behaviors were reported as dominant psychological consequences of abortion among the respondents. Decreased self-esteem , nightmare, guilt and regret with 43.7% , 39.5% , 37.5% and 33. 3% prevalence rates have been placed on the lower status, respectively.

The Complications that comes with abortions are overbearing and it's unfortunate that the society has neglected its negative effect and has embraced it as a common acceptable Act. However, it's important we advocate for what's right despite the poor approach of the society in handling the situation of Abortion.

Abortion shouldn't be an escape route, no matter the circumstances surrounding the conception of the child because every child has the right to live. There are positive outlooks , we need to consider in the conception of a child which includes;
-Protection of Lives
-A Rebranded Society
-Rehabilitation

Protection of Lives: By the choice of shunning the "Act of Abortion", there will be protection of the life of both the victim and child because it will prevent the possibility of having a complicated process of abortion,  that can endanger both lives when not appropriately handled. Several lives are cut short as a result of this single mistake through loss of excessive blood , poor surgical operation, disruption of vital organs etc. However, if the victim adapts a positive mindset and approach about the conception and declines from aborting, the rate of death will be reduced. This should be put under consideration by humanitarian/government agencies and subsequent actions should be taken to protect lives.

A Rebranded Society: The Fight against Abortion builds self-confidence in victims who are determined to have a positive mentality about their conceptions without been influenced by the pressure of the society. This is a norm that should be inculcated into the conciousness of the victims. The fact is that roadblocks or unpredictable negative circumstances can build up better value-systems in the victims and society at large which can be done by having a Positive Perspective about the aftermath of the Pregnancy.

 Rehabilitation: In this case , the victim of the unborn child will impact the society with right values and as well recreate a better society which will give an opportunity for the future of a child to be preserved. This is really not an easy task or process but it's worth it.Therefore it's essential that rehabilitation centres are provided to help the victims to be emotionally stable ,have medical and financial support.

In Conclusion , with the decline in Abortion , people in our society will have the Positive mindset to Protect the life of an unborn child .
